Costume Gallery would like to congratulate Sara Pavesi, the grand prize winner of our 2015 Beverly Miller Dance Scholarship, along with the other eighteen scholarship winners.Sara dances with the Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theater in New Jersey. With the help and support of her family, Sara founded Tutus for Tumors, a program that raises awareness and funds towards a cure for Neurofibromatosis, a disorder that she personally overcomes on a daily basis. Dance has given Sara an amazing outlook on life and is something she loves to celebrate. We are thrilled to be able to celebrate Sara and her work by awarding her this scholarship. The Beverly Miller Dance Scholarships were established by Costume Gallery in honor of Beverly Miller who, along with her husband Norman, dedicated almost 50 years making Costume Gallery an industry leader while serving the dance community. Bev loved Costume Gallery and was inspired by the wonderful dancers and teachers she met. In 1999 Beverly passed away after battling breast cancer. It is very important to her family and colleagues that Beverly’s memory lives on and her legacy continues to be associated with giving young dancers a helping hand.

In Beverly’s honor Costume Gallery awards ten thousand dollars in scholarships each November to students to put toward their dance education. Nineteen scholarships are awarded—one $1,000 award and eighteen awards of $500 each. Applicants are judged based on an essay expressing their passion, financial need, involvement, and teachers comments.

Congratulations again to our 2015 winners. To see the full list of winners please go to: https://www.costumegallery.net/community/scholarships/
