We all know that a good rhythm and thought-provoking lyric can prompt a heartfelt and intuitive response to compose movement. As dancers, music goes synonymously with dance. What happens though when we break the mold a bit and think outside the box to discover outside catalysts that can administer the same reaction? How can we as choreographers’ progress and push ourselves outside of our artistic comfort zones to be not be so reliant on the music and lyrics?
We always know it’s there waiting for us like a true friend, so why not break the boundaries a bit and add to our creative process reserve? The following list are some of my own tried and true places to seek inspiration and have helped me develop some pretty awesome pieces I may not have imagined otherwise! So, have fun, play and let your soul be inspired!!
Good luck,
See you in the dance studio,
Jess
